Preparing the Next Generation of Video Game Makers
After working for a video game production company, Dani Castillo understands the needs of the industry. Now she's preparing the next generation of video game designers at Cañada College.
Castillo's classes focus on giving students a solid base of understanding for what they'll need to pursue careers in multimedia, including the video game industry.
"These are hands-on classes where students learn the basics of digital animation and imaging," she said. "In addition, we educate students about the multimedia job market - including the work environment, portfolio design, and job search techniques."
Castillo said the Bay Area is alive with opportunity for would-be video game designers but they need to approach a career in the industry with a solid educational foundation. "We provide students with the basic skills they'll need to get started. How far they go is up to them."
