Librarian Margie Whitnah is Ready to Help You
Whether you need a book, DVD or some advice about a source for your research paper, Margie Whitnah and the staff at the Cañada College Library are ready to help. The Cañada College Library is a branch of the Peninsula Library System and can access other resources in that system. The library has no time limit on computer usage and, from the Reserve Book Collection, you can borrow many textbooks used in classes at Cañada.
“We can help students identify a research topic, narrow that topic down, help them look at both sides of an issue and identify credible sources,” said Whitnah. “We can even help students determine if a website can be used as a source.”
As Librarian Dave Patterson explains, Margie and the staff are willing to go the extra mile to help students.
“We had a student doing research on ‘fan language’ - the way women used to hold their fans at certain angles to signal messages, flirtatiousness, not interested, etc. Margie wasn’t finding enough information, so, on her day off, she drove to a number of libraries and gathered material for the student, who, as you can imagine, was incredibly grateful. This is typical of Margie – she is completely focused on helping our students and faculty get the information they are seeking.”
