The San Francisco artist's work will be featured at the Cañada College Art Gallery through March 3.

Eileen David oil painting

The Canada College Art Gallery begins 2011 with the presentation of Eileen David: Housescapes, a series of oil paintings capturing urban and residential landscapes of San Francisco. The exhibit is open from February 1 to March 3. A reception will be held on Wednesday, February 2nd from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

David, a part-time lecturer at Skyline College in San Bruno, was born in New York City and received her MFA at San Jose State University. She currently works from her studio in San Francisco’s Hunters Point Shipyard.

Over the last decade, her painting has focused on the urban landscape in and around San Francisco. “My work results from the ongoing dialogue I have with my everyday environment. That, which is essential to transport and connect, supply or shelter us, the concrete and steel, roads, trucks and bridges, traffic lights and signs become the fabric in which our urban environment is woven.” Eileen David is represented by Paul Thiebaud Gallery in San Francisco, located at at 645 Chestnut Street, (415) 434-3055; or http://www.paulthiebaudgallery.com. The artist can be reached directly at eileendavid@sbcglobal.net. Her Web site is eileendavid.com.

The Canada College Art Gallery is geared toward an interdisciplinary interpretation of art and culture, serving the public of San Mateo County as well as the college community. Exhibition and gallery events are free and open to the public. Gallery Hours: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursday 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesdays, 2 to 5 p.m. Closed Friday through Sunday.
