Fall Theater Production Opens Nov. 4
"Sylvia" is a comedy by A.R. Gurney first produced in 1995.

A unique love triangle between a man, his wife, and a new-found dog lead to hilarity in A.R. Gurney's "Sylvia" which opens Thursday, Nov. 4 at Cañada College.
The play revolves around Greg, a middle-aged, upper-middle-class New Yorker, who finds Sylvia, a dog played by a human. He brings her back to the empty nest he shares with his wife, Kate. When Kate gets home, she reacts very negatively to Sylvia and wants her gone. They eventually decide that Sylvia will stay for a few days before they decide whether she can stay longer, but Greg and Sylvia have already bonded. The play revolves around the building tension between Greg, Sylvia and Kate.
The play was originally staged in New York in 1995 with a cast that included Sarah Jessica Parker, Blythe Danner, and Charles Kimbrough.
The opening matinee will be "Pay-What-You-Can" and begins at 1 p.m. Other performances will be held Friday, Nov. 5 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 6 at 8 p.m.; Thursday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. (another Pay-What-You-Can matinee); Friday, Nov. 12 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 13 at 8 p.m.; and the final performance will be Sunday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. All performances will be in the Flex Theater.
Tickets are $15 general admission and $10 for students and seniors. They can be purchased at brownpapertickets.com.
